India ended its journey of Commonwealth Games 2022 campaign in Birmingham with total 61 medals, which included 22 Gold, 16 Silver and 23 Bronze Medals.
On the final day (8th August 2022), India won 4 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze medal, with P. V. Sindhu (Badminton), Lakshya Sen (Badminton), the pair of Satwik Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty (Badminton), and the evergreen Sharath Kamal (Table Tennis), all winning their respective finals.
However, one event in which India has dominated over the years i.e., shooting was absent at the Commonwealth Games 2022. It’s a same sport where India secured 16 medalists (7 gold, 4 silver and 5 bronze) in the 2018 edition of the Games.
This was only the 2nd Commonwealth Games without shooting since the inception of event in 1966, the first being in 1970. India has won total 135 medals in shooting in the Commonwealth Games, including 63 Gold Medals and sits in 2nd place in the overall gold medals for shooting, behind Australia.
Here is the India’s performance in the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham to that over the years, without shooting since 1966.
